Danish social shopping and wishlist leader Ønskeskyen, internationally known as GoWish, has launched a new Global Commerce Media division to spearhead a US-first growth strategy by helping brands activate consumer intentions through wish signals.
The new division, with Tom Bang as its newly-appointed Director, marks a significant strategic investment in GoWish’s ambition to create new value for global brands and media agencies through audience activation and media solutions powered by authentic consumer intent and wish signals – a new significant leg in GoWish’s expanding product offering and business model:
“The future of Commerce Media is not about showing more ads. It is about understanding people better. For years, brands have relied on signals from searches, browsing behaviour and transactions. At GoWish, we have access to something fundamentally different: Millions of authentic wishes that create wish signals – one of the strongest indicators of future consumer intent available today. Our ambition is to help brands activate these wish signals to deliver more relevant experiences and create value for consumers, partners and advertisers alike”, says Tom Bang, Director of Global Commerce Media with GoWish.
With more than 18 million users globally, over 194 million wishes and more than €10.7 billion in recorded wish value, GoWish has not only built one of the world’s largest repositories of consumer wishes, but consequently also one of the world’s strongest hubs for future purchase intentions.
Unlike traditional media and commerce platforms that primarily rely on historical transactions, browsing behaviour or search activity, GoWish captures what consumers genuinely aspire to own, experience and hope to receive in the future. These wish signals create a powerful opportunity for global brands and media agencies to engage audiences based on future intent rather than past behaviour.
“The launch of the Global Commerce Media division comes as the Retail Media and Commerce Media industry continues to grow, with brands seeking stronger audience capabilities and more relevant customer experiences. GoWish believes its unique wish signals can play an important role in this evolution, particularly as AI-powered discovery, recommendation engines and emerging commerce experiences reshape how consumers discover and evaluate products and services”, says Mads Dahlerup, CEO and co-founder of GoWish.
The new Global Commerce Media division was conceived as part of GoWish’s innovation agenda led by Alexander Bogh Rasmussen, VP of Innovation & Projects. Under the leadership of newly appointed Director Tom Bang, the division will initially focus on accelerating growth in the US market while building a global Commerce Media ecosystem around audience activation, partnerships and media solutions powered by wish signals.
The decision to launch the new division follows a year of significant growth for GoWish, which in November became the most downloaded app in the US App Store. The momentum supports GoWish’s mission to build a leading global platform for social gifting and wishlists, helping millions of users across Scandinavia, the United States and the United Kingdom to discover, save and share the things they truly wish for.
Both Tom Bang, as well as GoWish’s CGO & Co-Founder Casper Ravn-Sørensen and new Head of Partnerships, Joackim Penti Gonella, will be present during Cannes Lions June 19-24 to introduce GoWish’s new Global Commerce Media division to the world.
