Snapchat’s Evan Spiegel lifts veil on GoWish’s “secret weapon” with Q4 report while Social Shopping platform passes the 10mill-user mark

The GoWish download frenzy was among the different focus points in Evan Spiegel’s Q4 earnings call for Snap Inc. following a successful partnership between Snapchat and the rapidly rising Scandinavian Social Shopping and wishlist platform, now the centre of a case study on how Snapchat helped secure more than 4.7 million downloads of the Danish wishlist app.

During Snap Inc.’s Q4 earnings call, Evan Spiegel, the CEO and co-founder of Snapchat, took time to elaborate on a recent partnership between Snap and the Danish-founded Social Shopping and wishlist platform GoWish. Dubbed “GoWish’s secret weapon for growth” in a recent case study by Snap, Evan Spiegel used the Q4 earnings call earlier in February to lift the veil on why consumers can’t seem to get enough of the Scandinavian Social Shopping phenomena which is used by 1 in 2 Danes and this month passed the 10 million user mark:

“Our recent expansion of 7-0 Optimization to app install and in-app purchase is driving better performance for advertisers. For example, GoWish, a global digital wishlist platform, leveraged 7-0 app install and in-app purchase, which resulted in a 70% decrease in cost-per-install and an increase of over 3,000% in app installs in just 12 weeks, outperforming other large digital platforms”, said Snap CEO and co-founder Evan Spiegel on the investor call on February 4, 2025, which was also published shortly after.

4.7 million downloads via Snapchat

In essence, GoWish has “struck gold” by managing to reduce the acquisition cost per downloaded app via its Snapchat partnership, averaging a 70% decrease in cost over a 12 week period. According to Snap, this actually outperformed Meta with 140% more installs, prompting a 300% scale in advertising spend by the Danish wishlist company which confirms it has secured 4.7 million downloads in 2024 via Snap:

Private equity to go global via social media

Founded in 2015, GoWish has since grown its user base to more than 10 million registered users worldwide, and is today the online wishlist category winner and market leader in Scandinavia with more than 4.1 million registered users in that region, including Denmark, Norway and Sweden. As the Danish company in January 2025 confirmed it had received an undisclosed investment from British asset manager Capital D, GoWish now aims to scale its global social platform marketing activities considerably:
